With 24 years of experience as an independent organizational development consultant, Cliff teaches Entrepreneurship and Social Entrepreneurship. Cliff is a member of the board of directors of the Robert S. Hartman Institute and is co-editor of the Journal of Formal Axiology: Theory and Practice.

Leadership begins with a look in the mirror.

Authentic leadership is more than a set of skills or techniques that you learn to apply in your job. It is something much deeper than that.  It starts with knowing yourself; it grows when you develop yourself through the pursuit of an authentic response to what makes you “you.”

In this workshop you will learn about two important aspects of what makes you who you are… your personality traits and your deep-seated cognitive habit patterns.

You will be asked to complete two online assessments prior to the start of the workshop. During the workshop, you will gain insight about your leadership qualities from what these assessments reveal to you about yourself.

Vicki.jpg

Vicki, a professor of Leadership and Management at Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah, brings over twenty-five years of business and leadership experience to classrooms and executives throughout the United States. Her most recent research focuses on the role of mentorship and extreme environments on leadership effectiveness.

As a result of taking part in this workshop, you will be able to:

·        Understand what drives your behavior

·        Adapt yourself to situations as they demand

·        Become more responsive to others

·        Bring the best of yourself to your leadership roles

·        Develop a plan to grow yourself as a leader through increased self-understanding

Are You Ready For the Second Wave of the Digital Revolution?

In the brief time since the new millennium began, we have experienced the transformative power of the first wave of the Digital Revolution as the Internet has literally changed all the rules for how the world works. Now we find ourselves on the threshold of a second wave that will be fueled by not one, but two engines, resulting in more change in the next decade than we have seen in the past twenty-five years. Discover how the Internet of Things and Blockchain technology will produce new capabilities for improving the quality of life by expanding social collaboration, preventing illness and accidents, spawning new business and product models, generating new ways to create and distribute wealth, and ending the threats of hacking and fraud.

Rod Collins shows business leaders how they can ready themselves to leverage the powerful new capabilities of the second wave of the digital revolution to lead organizations that can change as fast as the world around them.

Thriving Organization Intensive
Session II: The Formula for Digital Transformation – Focusing Innovation and Influential, Not Positional Authority

Salt Lake City, Utah
July 13, 2018
1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Registration is required.

These intensive workshops will take a deeper dive into some of the topics offered at our annual Tools & Practices Workshop and will be offered throughout the year.

Session II in this series of intensive workshops covers the practices of transformational leadership – the type of leadership required in today’s fast-moving, uncertain, technology-driven environment. Our workshop leader, Niel Nickolaisen, covers two highly-effective models that anyone can learn. Participants use the first model to identify where to focus innovation and where to adopt the innovation of others – a key to operational excellence. The second model describes an approach to leadership that emphasizes how to use influential rather than positional authority to create engaging, agile cultures in teams, departments and organizations.

As a result of this Intensive, you will be able to:

  • Align your team, department and organization around sustainable competitive advantage

  • Identify how to quickly improve operational excellence through standardization and simplification

  • Overhaul your approach to leadership in a way that develops talent and improves decision-making and outcomes

  • Develop an action plan to initiate or support the development of a high-performing organizational culture and expand your circle of influence

This Intensive is being taught by Niel Nickolaisen. He is the Chief Technology Officer at OC Tanner Company and has held a variety of leadership roles – mostly in high-stakes, turnaround roles. He is the author of “The Agile Culture” and “Stand Back and Deliver".

Session I: The Deep Dynamics of High-Performing Organizational Cultures

Salt Lake City, Utah
May 4, 2018
1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Registration is required.

These intensive workshops will take a deeper dive into some of the topics offered at our annual Tools & Practices Workshop and will be offered throughout the year.

Session I in this series of intensive workshops will cover the Center's Model of Thriving Organizational Cultures developed by Michael Pacanowsky, founder of the Center for Innovative Cultures.  We will explore thriving and wilting cultures in a creative, intuitive way and probe strategic intent, practices, and foundational beliefs of your own organizational culture.

As a result of this Intensive, you will be able to:

  • Explain why the concept of culture is so important in today’s environment

  • Communicate the key elements that drive high-performing organizational cultures

  • Analyze your own culture—at the work unit, or organizational level

  • Develop an action plan to initiate or support the development of a high-performing organizational culture in your circle of influence

The Intensive is being taught by Michael Pacanowsky. He was a long-time Associate at W. L. Gore & Associates, and is currently the Gore-Giovale Chair in Business Innovation in the Bill and Vieve Gore School of Business at Westminster College and the Founding Director of the Center for Innovative Cultures.

KPMG Human Capital Strategy and Culture Transformation

THE POWER OF WORK'S HIGHER PURPOSE:
How an Accounting Firm Convinced Its Employees They Could Change the World

Bruce N. Pfau, Ph.D.,  KPMG’s Vice Chair of Human Resources and Communications 2004-2016, will discuss his influential Harvard Business Review case study demonstrating the powerful, positive effects of unleashing employees’ sense of higher purpose on workforce engagement, business performance and company brand. Today’s employees want more from work than what they can see in their paychecks or even in their career development; they have an enormous pent up appetite to elevate, re-frame and announce the higher purpose of their work. Providing employees with this opportunity, KPMG drove morale and retention to historic highs and advanced 68 ranks on FORTUNE’s Best Place to Work list, placing it #1 among its Big 4 competitors each year from 2014-2017.
